Layer It Up

Its that time of year where layering is key! With the weather being so crazy here in Virginia, you know hot one minute and cold the next its hard to figure out how to dress.

I like layering because it gives you the option to add on or take off pieces as the day goes on without losing the chic-ness of your look! For this outfit I chose to keep it simple by layering this sweatshirt over a flannel shirt.  I bought this sweatshirt a couple of weeks ago and went back and forth with wearing it with jeans or with some other pants that you will be seeing in an upcoming blog post. At least I have options, right?! I ultimately decided on jeans and went with the flannel shirt for some added flare. Also, Monday was wear orange at work day so I figured this sweatshirt would be perfect!

Layering is also a good way to take looks from day to night. You can play with pattern mixing and texture mixing as well. One rule of thumb when layering items is try to stick to 1 bulky item like a chunky sweater, a coat, etc. Reasons for this is its easy to get overheated and bulky clothing can sometimes add unflattering dimensions to a person.  I think layering is a fun way to introduce new fashion trends to your wardrobe. You will for sure be seeing more layering looks from me!
